Shinseki was fired by Bush….so Obama hired him….Sounds good to me!

Eric Shinseki will be named Secretary of Veteran Affairs by President-Elect Obama when he appears on Meet The Press on Sunday.  General Shinseki served as the Army’s Chief of Staff during the Bush administration.  He was fired by Donald Rumsfeld when Shinseki testified before Congress that the U.S. post invasion policy in Iraq grossly underestimated the number of troops that would be needed to occupy the country.  Three months after his termination, he gave an interview where he accused the Pentagon of failing to admit that troops were struggling to maintain control in Iraq.  He was criticized and ridiculed by the Bush administration.  Before you get to indignant, remember that all of this was largely ignored by mainstream/”drive-by” media outlets and occurred prior to Bush’s 2004 re-election.

More importantly, Obama recognizes this man’s value to a critically important post; taking care of veterans who have fought in this terrible war.
