SXSW Preview- Under The Radar Pt. 1

Plugging through the 50 some odd, “must-see” bands was relatively easy.  Trudging through the 1000+ list of the remaining bands?  Ugh.  Is it just me, or does there seem to be more “great” bands and more “horrible” bands than ever?  In my opinion, there’s more hip-hop and country than usual and a plethora of Coldplay sound-alike bands.  We tolerated, even enjoyed Aqualung, but this is getting ridiculous.  There also seems to be a lot of artists who could just as easily be on American Idol.  In other words, be careful where you walk this year.  You could walk into a bar and have your brains sucked from your skull.

We did find a nice little collection of good bands with the potential to be next years’, next big thing.  Couldn’t tell you a thing about any of these artists other than what’s on the SXSW website.  If you find something you like, you’re going to have to do the legwork.  We’ll break this up into a few parts, ie., buy ourselves a few more days to get through the rest of the songs…

Ace Enders- This video had to be pulled after we were informed the “Ace” didn’t want his music embedded on our website.  Clearly Mr. Enders has become so huge that he no longer needs publicity.  No problem.  We’ll wish everyone that read this good luck finding something about this band/person on the internet.

Adam Stephens- Lead In Our Lungs

Amplified Heat- What Went Wrong

Arms and Legs- No Prescription

Black Gold- Detroit

The Black Hollies- Paisley Pattern Ground

Black Lips- O Katrina

One Response to “SXSW Preview- Under The Radar Pt. 1”

  1. Hey, just wanted to drop a line to let say that one of the bands that haven’t been mentioned but that are absolutely worth watching live is ‘The Dillinger Escape Plan’. They may not be everybody’s cup of tea musically, however their live performances are brilliant and intense.

    Must see.
